Drents Friese Wold National Park

Wander from sand drifts to fens, from heath to marsh. The Drents Friese Wold is grand in its beauty.

After the Hoge Veluwe, the Drents Friese Wold is the largest continuous forest area in our country. This park is more than just a forest. Walk or cycle through the Drents Friese Wold and you will still recognise the typical esdorpene landscape: spherical fields around the villages and stream valleys full of blossoming flowers.

Boschoord country estate

The Boschoord Estate is a special area on the southern flank of the Drents Friese Wold. It consists for a large part of forest, but there are also bogs and fens with high nature values.

The Fochteloërveen

Peat, moor and more peat, all the way to the horizon. This extensive nature area lies on the border of Friesland and Drenthe. An area that appeals to the imagination with birds, such as the crane and the hen harrier.

The Schaopedobbe

The Schaopedobbe, a special heathland area. This area has fens, a sand drift and groups of trees. From a landscape point of view, this is a treasure, because of its enormous wealth of plants and animals. This is a very quiet area, you can walk here and find peace and quiet.
