When people think of Friesland, they often think of the Frisian lakes, the Elfstedentocht, Fierljeppen (pole vaulting), ice skating, skûtsjesilen, the Wadden Islands. Friesland has so much more to offer.

The Drents Friese Wold is not only a large forest area. You can wander from sand drifts to fens, from heath to marshland.

From the front house of the B&B you can see the national park the Drents Friese Wold.
Near Appelscha is a visitor centre of the Forestry Commission where you can get a lot of information about the nature reserve and recreational possibilities. In the reception of the B&B we have folders on what to do in the area.
The region is not to be experienced in one day. You can enjoy it in your own way. Relax and unwind by taking endless walks, cycling, horse riding and mountain biking on the most beautiful routes in the north of the Netherlands.
The doors of our B&B had only just opened when we welcomed our first guests.
After two days of cycling around the area, they asked if their stay could be extended, 'Because it is so beautiful here. I never knew Friesland was so beautiful.
